Linmere, Delemere, Northwich. CW8 2JD Old Pale is part of the popular Delemere Forest. Old Pale is a prominent hill affording panoramic views of several counties. From the viewpoint near the masts you can see on a clear day: Snowdonia, the Forest of Bowland, the Pennines, and the Shropshire hills of Long Mynd and Wrekin. Closer landmarks include Liverpool, Jodrell Bank and Windy Hill.
There is a mixture of surfaced and grassy paths for walking cycling and horse riding. Some areas have been fenced off for grazing animals, to maintain meadow grassland habitat suitable for skylarks and butterflies. For those interested in geology, there is evidence of glacial activity at this woodland. An ancient hill fort can be seen, but unfortunately not accessed on the east side of the site.
An open concert arena lies at the bottom of the hill, which hosts annual music festivals.
Pay and display parking is available. The popular attraction Go Ape is nearby. After you have explored Old Pale and Delamere Forest you can relax in the Delamere café or the nearby Station café.
